Summer seems to revolve around taking the kids swinging and whizzing down the slides in the park. Throw in trampolining at Urban Jungle, and it feels like you've got summer sorted, right?
A few weeks in, you are bound to hear the much-dreaded screams of “I'm booooored”, from your kids. Or maybe YOU are simply getting bored from 'tagging' along with them? It often feels like they have all the fun, doesn't it?
Well, not anymore.
Thanks to the city of Santee, you're about to have more fun than you've had in ages.
Fun for You
A 10 week summer camp organized by the Santee Recreation Services Division, offers a wide range of programs for different age groups and interests. I'm not talking kindergarten to Grade 9.
Just check out some of the programs they have lined up for adults:
- Come and learn how to channel your inner 'Arrow', with a course in Beginner Archery.
- Learn some self-defense at the Kung Fu, Karate & Defensive Tactics classes.
- If that's too much action for you, try the Golf Clinic. Don't fret over your skill level, there are classes for both beginners and intermediates.
- At the end of everything, relax and reconnect with yourself at the Spiral Fit Yoga sessions.
Really cool, right?
And Grandma too
That's not all, this camp also has fun stuff planned for older folks. Yes, the 2015 Santee Summer Camp has a week of activities for adults aged 55 and over. Day trips to the Scripps Institute of Oceanography, free games and activities PLUS outings to explore local destinations; are only a selection of what is available.
Talk about a staycation for the entire family!
Don't Forget the Kids
Before you start to worry about having all this fun without the kids, Santee has that covered too. All ages, I mean ALL ages have full-day activities planned for them.
Kids in grade 1 through 9 have hours of recreational summer activities waiting for them. I'm talking swimming at the Santee Aquatics Center, field trips, tennis, BMX, volleyball; and so much more. There's even a Make Your Own Music Video, Anatomy Academy Mad Science and LEGO Pre-Engineering classes!
Older kids in grades 9 through 12, even have a special camp designed to help them gain leadership skills. There are new friends to be made, new skills to be learned, and an all-round exciting summer.
10 whole weeks of varied family fun; how often do you get that? Well, maybe on an expensive cruise; but why spend so much, when the Santee Summer Camps are here?
Hurry on over to the website and see the calendar of events. Start to pencil in your preferred dates; it's time to relive your childhood as you gleefully go 'off to summer camp' again.
