The City Parks of Santee: Shadow Hill Park
Santee's Parks
Of the many attractions in Santee, its parks are some of the more popular spots. Santee is home to 10 different parks; which serve as a melting pot of activity all year round. They play host to everything from kids birthday parties, cookouts, yoga classes etc.
Partial to the soft strings of bluegrass music? The City does you one better and adds wine tasting at the Santee Wine & Bluegrass Festival, held in fall at the Town Center Community Park. In the mood for some soccer? Visit one of the astroturfs at the Town Center Community Park for a solid kickabout session. There is even a dedicated doggie park at Woodglen Vista Dog Park!
Shadow Hill Park
But off the ten, one nestled in the eastern foothills of Santee, Shadow Hill Park, really stands out. Its 5.62 acres of park land have been carefully planned to provide hours of fun for all ages. Some of its unique features include:
A huge grassy play area for everything from a mini kickabout to kids practicing their tumbling.
A long winding walking trail that is guaranteed to challenge your body.
For aspiring Serenas and Jordans out there, this park has tennis and basketball courts, kept in top condition all year round.
If you want to make a whole day of it, you can pack your lunch. There is a cabana-like-structure, with tables for you and guests to sit and feast at.
Speaking of guests, there is no need to worry about accommodating a large crowd. The park has six large tables with space for up to 50 guests.
Worried about staying out a little late? There is lighting along the trails and a state-of-art security system to keep vandals out.
You can find Shadow Hill Park, just off Woodside, at the very end of Shadow Hill Road. The park also has adequate parking spaces available and clean restrooms.
What's not to love about Shadow Hill? It's spacious, clean and there is something for everyone. Sometimes, you just have to take your foot 'off the gas', turn off the TV/computer, go in the park, and just relax.
