There is almost always a bump in criminal activity during the holiday season.
Experts have a number of different theories.
More people are shopping during November and December. For some, spending extra money can be stressful leading to poor decisions.
Some also believe that visiting family can cause stress and for some people that is too much leading to more poor decision making.
The holidays are a wonderful time, however, but it's good to be prepared and the East Country Family YMCA is offering a program to help ensure your safety this holiday season.
Women's Self-Defense Clinic - East Country Family YMCA
Women are usually most vulnerable to attacks and that is true during the holiday season. Nobody wants to hear a story of a family member or friend getting into a bad situation while they should be enjoying the holidays.
And you of course want to protect yourself and your family.
So signup yourself and encourage female family and friends to attend the self-defense clinic.
Three self-defense experts - Martha, Amber and Tyler - will be hosting the clinic and providing the following instruction:
- How to assess and avoid risk
- How to increase assertiveness
- How to escape threatening situations
- How to use your powerful voice
- How to use your personal strength
After the clinic you'll have the strength and confidence to feel safe and secure during the holidays. It's not likely that you'll encounter a challenging situation, but the YMCA wants to ensure that you're prepared for anything.
